Deerbrook is a project to further the work of an independent literary press that publishes deserving authors in well designed trade books. For fourteen years Deerbrook Editions has brought out books by authors from several states: Maine, NH, MA, NY, & CA. We receive more submissions from all over the country every week. In 2012, in spite of a slow recovery from the down turn, the press began an ambitious plan to do more books in one year. That plan was fairly successful because certain books did well. The press could be doing more to promote and market books, as well as doing more books for deserving authors. Visit issuu.com to view samples of books.

Currently, Deerbrook asks that you help us fund the publishing of new titles, not only does the press need to keep up with titles in print, nine new titles were published last year, and two new titles so far this year, there is always more to do for all the books. The goal of this project is to help us do what we do best, here are just a few areas of need :

  • do more marketing and promotion
  • help afford an assistant. An assistant could free me up from reviewing media, email, and paper work, and a competent person should be paid
  • help pay for ISBN numbers, distribution and shipping fees
  • help pay for proof reading and copy editing, design and production
  • with enough funding the press could join Adobe creative cloud and generally maintain valuable hardware and software

Help us raise this money, join us in celebrating literature, and thereby give us more power to launch new books, pay writers, buy lists, do advertising, etc. Visit Project Deerbrook – a Fractured Atlas sponsored project – Deerbrook is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Deerbrook Editions serves the important role of publishing creative writing that has merit but may be too risky for larger publishers. Many authors work hard writing and teaching, or otherwise serve their communities, but their work may not seem like marketable material in the trendy and competitive publishing world. On minimal budgets and volunteer labor, the press has moved writers work from the desk drawer to the distributors like spdbooks.org, and Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Baker & Taylor, local book stores, and into the hands of readers. Every book has an ISBN and barcode, is listed with Books In Print.

With your help we can do so much more. No donation is too small. If 50 people donate 10.00 that becomes $500. Five hundred dollars will help launch a book publishing plan. Five hundred dollars will pay for an ad in a major literary magazine. Five hundred dollars will pay for the design of one book. For the sake of the writers your help is like removing  stones from our meadows; then an orchard w could grow. Your donation makes you an arts advocate.
