Nature, wisdom, and spring begging

Virgo full moon; is there wisdom in the solar system? we sure could use it. Maybe if we believe that with a little conscious help we can do some real spring cleaning, believe in doing away with contradictions and negative spin. It’s not about hating war, it’s about loving peace. We are, after all, part of this great nature.

Feb-Mar issue of Mountain Astrologer writer Stephanie Austin seems to be saying, when you get through the technical aspects of March 8 full moon chart, with Mercury in retrograde and Pallas Athene close to Sun/Neptune midpoint in Pisces, opposing Mars  etc., this is the point to come away with: there is cosmic energy for reassessing disagreements, and probing root causes. Pallas Athene’s position brings her energies to the fore, she is protector and guardian, using her wisdom to peacefully settle disputes. Her association with the full moon supports “waging peace”.  “Sabian symbols underscore the cosmic imperative for a spiritual revolution.” Added to this is a coda by Paul Hawkins: “Forget that this task of planet saving is not possible in the time required. Don’t be put off by people who know what is not possible. Do what needs to be done, and check to see if it was impossible only after you are done.” This I take as good advice for myself. As a small press director the words small presses are often on the verge of disaster creep into to those moments in between tasks.

I don’t think much about astrology though I have had my own chart done. Ideas about Athene and how we could use that kind of energetic help on the planet may actually work. The press could use that kind of help often enough. With spring coming and poetry month is next month I have to look closely at ideas on ways to fund raise if we are going to make more books by deserving authors. There are lots of things we need money to help us do more for our writers. Every week there are things to do; mailings, designing of cards, keeping up with networking, printing cards, designing and printing a catalogue would be nice, and then mailing it out. These are just a few. Right now there are four books that need help to design and plan for publishing. I say we and us because I think of we being me and the authors. Every time the press gets exposure from a page or post it potentially helps an author become recognized and may sell a book or two. Selling books of course is one way to keep the press going. Competition for sales is huge.

If the press could increase marketing and promotion in any number of ways, our reach would grow and potential sales would grow. That is why, even though the press has been around for ten years and has gotten more attention, with growth comes more expense, there is the need for more money to do more of what we do, bring literature out in well designed trade books. Everyone that sees our books says this is a fact. The press makes beautiful books. That is what we want to keep doing.

I hope that if you can’t make a donation that you will consider buying a book (we have an on going sale) spread the word to friends that might make a donation to our cause for which they can get a tax deduction. Help us expand our capability to make books and expand our mission. Thank you.

Athena, Greek goddess of wisdom, of household arts and crafts, of spinning and weaving, of textiles. Inventor of the flute, the plough and the ox-yoke, the horse bridle and the chariot.

Here are some things I found on Pallas Athene:
Athena, Greek goddess of wisdom, of household arts and crafts, of spinning and weaving, of textiles. Inventor of the flute, the plough and the ox-yoke, the horse bridle and the chariot. Athena, goddess of war, guardian of Athens, the city named for her; defender of heroes, champion of justice and civil law.
